Christmas Mash Up: A Little Bit of Everything!

So I should really be asleep right now, as I am working a super early shift tomorrow but I got home about an hour ago from work so that isn't happening. Lucky for you (the one person who reads this blog) I decided to post instead of sleep.

I wore a ton of stuff over the last couple of weeks and I sort of compiled all of it. I've got quite a few China Glazes and a bit of other stuff. Onward!

But first, an addendum. This is actually my second favorite christmas song. Mono Puff's Careless Santa is better than Santa's Beard. :-)

Chanel Graphite

China Glaze Party Hearty

Combo together with a cute octopus !
Not much to say about the first combo other than I'm a bit sick of Party Hearty. I loved it back in 2010 and I seriously wore it the whole month of December over Orly Rage. (I might have worn something else for a day or two and switched back).  I didn't take too many photos because it was cloudy and I wasn't too thrilled with it.

Zoya Logan
Sorry for the crappy phone photos, these seemed to look best

Honestly though this one is so difficult to capture

This polish needs to be seen in person on the nails to really get it.
China Glaze Mistletoe Kisses

Blurry Reststop Bathroom shot for full effect
China Glaze Twinkle Lights (A bit burry, my camera didn't like this polish)

Crappy Photo by the Christmas tree (I only wore this one for one day)
China Glaze Running In Circles

Blurry Phone Photo to show off the "glowyness"
Lastly, OPI Excuse Moi
Ok So that was a bit of a photo dump. All the greens needed three coats but I probably did two in most because I am lazy! Not much to say about all these except I'm excited I actually got all these worn before New Years Eve. I love my greens but a lot of my green polishes are much too Christmassy to wear all year. If you don't have Zoya Logan or China Glaze Running in Circles and you like greens you will not be disappointed with them, they just don't look the best in photos. Mistletoe Kisses makes me think of a toothpaste I used back in the early 90s that was cerulean blue with glitter in it. Mistletoe kisses is like that toothpaste but spearmint instead of cool mint or whatever it actually was (if that even makes sense).  Anyway I hope you wore some pretty greens with December and Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!

Sorry all my christmas themed polishes that I wore in the last two weeks turned out crap, so instead of posting those, I am sharing my favorite christmas song! (They Might be Giants' Santa's Beard came in a close second)

happy christmas, festivus and hanukkah (since they all sort of overlap right now)

Orly Tinsel and OPI Happy Anniversary!

So the sun has been a bit hit and miss the past couple of weeks so my posts might be start to become even more sporadic. I've worn quite a few things that I thought were possibly blog worthy but without good photos it doesn't seem worth it. I'd rather post about polishes I am excited about as well as ones I actually manage to get passable photos of. I'm not really planning on getting fancy lighting just so I can't photo every polish I wear, especially because this is supposed to be a fun hobby. I only like hobbies that are convenient for me :-) .

Anyway on to the polishes! I bought Orly Tinsel back in early November and I couldn't quite figure out what to layer underneath it, it is a little tricky to layer since there is a super fine red glitter running throughout it that one might not see at first glance. So instead of going with my go to Orly Rage or OPI Up Front and Personal I went with Happy Anniversary! I liked this combination so much I"m wearing it again, right at this instant. Though it was a hard descision between wearing this combo again and wearing Zoya Logan again. (Zoya Logan is seriously the best green ever, if you don't have, go buy it!)

Anyway enough rambling! Phototime!

Please excuse the lack of clean up. I was so excited that it was sunny right when I finished my nails. That and this was the day my friends came over so I was busy running around like a maniac getting everything ready. I hope you can see the tiny red microglitter. Tinsel would probably look good over sliver and gold foils as well. This might be my new favorite christmas glitter. Though I do have to say there is a lot of clear base in it, so you will need to dab the polish on to get enough of the glitter. Though I do suggest the first layer of glitter being normal since you get a lot of the red microglitter that way.

Essie Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low and Essie Beyond Cozy

Both Essie polishes Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low and Beyond Cozy are the ultimate gold silver type color. They walk the fine line between gold and silver. Which I love, I love colors that shift depending on the lighting.Colors like this make great holiday as well as year round work friendly polish. (Yet again my definition of work friendly is a bit different than most) Not much more to say about it, other than to show you the photos.

Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low more silvery

Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low more golden

Beyond Cozy

Beyond Cozy in the warm morning light :-)

So sparkly

I loved this combo so much I wore it two times in a row

I'm not usually a huge accent nail person but the polishes seem like they were made to be worn together. I suppose an argument could be made that you don't need both of these, but if you are like me and like glitter and foils... well it is really hard not to have both.

No song this week, I've started developing some shingles again ( I know ewww TMI) which is a signal that I'm really too stressed so I spent the week watching Father Ted and listening to Brian Eno. AND I actually got to see my friends from highschool all together for the first time in nearly two years. So an up and down week I suppose?

I hope everyone is staying happy and healthy this December, don't let the holidays get you down or over stressed (I know I know, meaningless from a high strung person like me)

Thanksgiving colors with OPI Rising Star and Take the Stage

No song to start off the post today, the Suede party lasted all of November, but I spent most of my day today driving and listening to The Smiths so I don't really have any song in particular that sticks out today. Probably for the best. Anyway on to the polishes I wore in the lead up to Thanksgiving!

OPI's Rising Star. This is such a lovely orange/caramel gold. It very much reminds me of autumn leaves. The finish is metallic, and leans a bit foil but I'm not entirely sure if it is really a foil.  I'm not really sure if this color does my skin tone any favors but I love the color so much I don't really care.

Next is OPI's Take the Stage

As you can see this one probably needed a third coat. There isn't much to say about this color other than it is a metallic burnt orange. It isn't quite as metallic as Rising Star, and it does lean a bit red in some lights. That might be the only draw back to this color is that on me, it sometimes comes off red and not too orange. Apologies for the lack of photos as I didn't realize the photos I had were pretty crappy until the polish was already off my hands. I do have some shots of this polish compared to Zoya Amy and OPI A Woman's Prauge-ative (or however you spell it). Both are from the OPI 2010 Holiday Burlesque collection and if you can find them, are definitely worth having for the fall.

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving (if you celebrate)

ok I lied, I had to post this song, it was hard to choose just one song...I hope someone likes it :-)

Trash: OPI Sparkle-icious, OPI Ski Slope Sweetie, Essie On a Silver Platter, OPI The Living Daylights

Starting another post off with a song... because I can!

So not only is this song one that I seem to fall back in love with in the fall, it also is a bit fitting for this Hodge-podge of somewhat over the top glitter.

My other excuse is that I felt like celebrating my birthday on my nails for an obscenely long time...I may have not stopped either....and part of that celebration includes a lot of Suede.

First off bottle shots!

The Living Daylights

On a Silver Platter

Ski Slope Sweetie

Sparkle-icious
Another reason why this post is titled Trash, is because all the shots I got of all of these polishes were a bit crap. Oh well! ONWARD!

Actually just a warning these are truly crap, I mean I put very little effort into these because my nails have been looking especially bad lately and because I wasn't too thrilled with the outcome of most of these...

Here I am wearing On a Silver Platter on top of Ski Slope Sweetie mostly because I hate the look of these chunky glitters with super fine glitter mixed in, so it looked less lumpy this way.
Here is the Living Daylights over Orly Rage, it turned out not as well as I remember it turning out in the past... kind of a bummer. But a very nice mix of copper, pale gold, sliver and teal glitter. It is surprisingly autumnal
And Lastly... a blurry shot of Sparkle-icious. I meant to take this off a day earlier but I was too lazy to take it off, so this photo is a result of me thinking, well I might as well take a photo since I wasn't going to anyway. Now some people might wonder, why bother taking photos of these if you weren't super thrilled/they looked off. Well, I already took the bottle shots, which I quite liked. Maybe I should stick to just bottle shots, I much prefer that since I prefer photographing objects that do not move. I will consider it. I also have a bit of time to consider that as I am currently changing my polish to Formula X Alchemy again... I will try to wear an un blogged polish soon...

I Spit Roses: Formula X for Sephora Alchemy

So I've had I Spit Roses by Peter Murphy stuck in my head all week (I had it stuck in my head most of last fall as well) and since this polish has a dusty purple-rose feeling to it, I thought sharing this video would be fitting.

This polish is one of the limited edition fall/holiday polishes for Formula X. I partly wanted it because of the name Alchemy and the shiny cap was pretty appealing as well. At first glance the polish didn't look that exciting it reminded me of OPIs The World is Not Enough and from far away they probably could look similar enough. But, Alchemy is definitely more foil finish and less glass fleck (TWiNE is a glass fleck sort of shimmer)  and instead of just being browny-rusty-purpley it changes depending on the lighting. I think this is mostly due to the different color particles in the polish. Up close it reminds me of CYMK printing, and that brings me back to highschool graphics class. I suppose a more accurate term would be CYM as the shimmers are magenta, cyan and yellow, but there does not appear to be any black in there. I think part of the reason this comes off more rose colored is either there are silver shimmers in there as well or there is just a greater amount of magenta...or maybe there are two different pinky-red shades in there, it is very difficult to tell. This is one of those polishes that I seem to catch myself randomly staring at during the day, especially if I am somewhere with some different lighting.

Aside from CYMK this polish also reminds me a bit of Superman ice cream. Though I suppose it sounds a bit classier if I say it reminds me of a color process/model as opposed to a garish ice cream :-)

Sorry for so many photos, but this polish is just a bit mesmerizing. In some lights it just looks neutral but in others the multi color particles really stand out and do this kind of crazy thing with my eyes. I'd also like to apologize for the tip wear and the chip on one hand, I was scrubbing some stuff with a Brillo pad earlier in the day and it didn't occur to me to take photos before I started scrubbing... oops.

I'm not sure how long this will be in stores but if you are at all interested in a color that looks sometimes pink, sometimes steel grey, sometimes yellow sometimes mutli color you should definitely at least go to Sephora and test it on their little plastic nail sheets. So glad I bought this one.

Happy Election Day!
