OPI Mad As A Hatter

I know I keep posting more and more impossible to find nail polishes. I'm sorry :-( but I had a crappy (well not that crappy but I was feeling a bit down) week and I need to pull out the big guns. And by big guns I mean polishes I try not to wear anymore because I've loved them too much.

OPI Mad As A Hatter was nearly not mine, I searched everywhere in 2010 for this, the salon near my apartment at the time kept getting more and more in, but I  kept missing them! They had a crap load of Absolutely Alice (which I never did buy... which I'm not really sad about) and the two boring reds but I always seemed to just miss the last MAAH. Fast forward to June 2010 (so not that far forward) my family went to Disney to celebrate my undergraduate graduation and there in the middle of Mouse Gear was a handful of MAAH! I had given up hope at this point, because I ran into a girl in the bathroom of the California Grill who was painting her nails with MAAH and she told me she found in the Great Britain pavilion in EPCOT so as soon as I could I went to the GB pavillion (our favorite resort is walking distance to the International Gateway entrance of EPCOT so it wasn't really much of a problem) and I was crushed when I found they were all out. Anyway, kind of an out of order story, but you get the point; I spent weeks stalking my local salon while also checking everywhere that sold OPI near me (which is a lot), basically ran from the top of the Contemporary resort to EPCOT to find out it wasn't there, but then found it in a different place in EPCOT. It was the most perfect thing at that point for me. (And I was only in that part of Mouse Gear because I was looking for my BFF who was working there at the time). Very lucky on my part, and it made the stressful year of 2010 much better for me.

ANYWAY, I know no one wanted to read that but I just had to tell the story of this polish. I seriously wore this from June 2010 until Novemeber 2010. And I only really stopped because I started wearing some of the OPI Burlesque polishes (only the best collection known to polish kind) and I went crazy for Orly Rage with China Glaze Party Hearty on top. So this bottle has seen some love.

Onward to the less than stellar photos.

I seem to have used up all my words earlier. MAAH is similar to all the Burlesque glitters (except for Sparkle-isous) with silver and purple as the base and then the rest of the colors mixed in. The dark purple with the silver seems to make the multi color mix stand out more (compared to the Burlesque glitters).

Due my lack of enthusiasm for more recent collections, I have reflected a lot recently about all the collections I felt were "amazing" back 5 years ago when I really started collecting. At first, I thought it was more of an exceitment for getting back in to nail polish (I loved nail polish ever since I was little, I wasn't too in to make up as a kid just nails); but I think it was partly the timing and partly the fact that some really neat things did come out 2010 and 2011. I guess I'll just have to keep waiting :-)

I hope everyone had a good memorial day weekend

because this song is stuck in my head :-), and it reminds me of my twin brother, who for the last few years has not lived in with in a block of me :-( it is hard to be away from your twin (at least for me)

Zoya Remy

So sorry about the lack of posts recently, I've worn a lot of interesting things the last few weeks but they haven't photoed well or just didn't look nice enough to blog. Not to mention that big slice I gave my finger two weeks ago made me very hesitant to change my nail polish (it was right by the nail).

Anyway, I have Zoya Remy here for you today. I actually did participate in the Zoya Earth Day Sale, for the first time since 2010. Though don't get too excited, I only bought three for myself and bought three for my mama. I bought Remy, Ivanka (since Logan was discontinued I had to see if this was just as good... it reminds me of China glaze running in circles but not a good), and I bought a back up of Kerry since now I know not to sit around on things I might want back ups of. GRR

Anyway enough ramblings and grumpiness. Here are some photos of Remy,  a nice dark teal-ish sort of blue with golden/green shimmer.

Ugh look at how it looks in the bottle!

So first off, apologies for the poor painting job, I wore this polish twice in a row and all the photos from the first time I wore it turned out awful. But the second time I wore it, I figured I could just slap it on... apparently not. The green was also less pronounced the second time around not sure if the thickness of the coats affected that?

This polish reminds me of Rimmel Mania. I really liked that polish but I wasn't a huge fan of the finish, this has that same dark blue with gold-y green shimmer that kind of looks like planet Earth if it were a nail polish. Very pretty, though not captured too well with my camera, but defnitely worth checking out. Dude even commented that it was pretty, and he normally doesn't really care/pay attention to what I wear on my nails.

What more can I say than this polish is Dude approved! Not to mention the name Remy makes me think of....

Zoya Meg

Zoya Meg was (as I said when I hauled this) one of those polishes I nearly bought right when it came out, but I just wasn't sure if I'd like it. While green is my favorite color I'm very particular about my green nail polish. But I was all worried for nothing! I do think I prefer Rikki over Meg but they are both very lovely.  Not much to say about this one, it is kind of a bright green, I'm not really sure how to describe it. I think people would call it a grass green, but I don't think grass is really that color (at least not where I live). I'll just go with bright green. (I know so descriptive)

I suppose I don't have much more to say about this polish. It is a really nice color just not super excited about it. Probably would have worn the crap out of this back in 2011 when it came out. New Rule: buy polishes you are excited about when you are excited about them. This polish deserve more love than I'm giving it in the post. But yet again there isn't much to say about it, bright green foil.  Might get a bit behind in posting in the next week or so, kind of lost a battle with the dumpster and have a nasty cut on one of my fingers not looking forward to putting acetone anywhere near there.
