Halloween Nails: OPI Extra-va-vaganza! and Bring on the Bling

My week was a bit insane and whenever things get really crazy I love to pull out my favorite nail polishes and actually wear them. I have a terrible tendency to wear my favorite polishes a couple times and then hide them away so I don't waste them. This tends to be a bit of a problem as I don't end up wearing my favorite nail polishes at all, but it is on the other hand a good thing as most of my ultimate favorites are limited edition polishes which are pretty difficult to get a hold of.  This week I wore two of OPI's Burlesque collection glitters. For those of you who don't know the OPI Burlesque collection came out Fall 2010 as their holiday collection. Half of the collection was glitters half were glass flecky/foil type shades. Hands down my favorite collection ever, if I was stuck wearing only one collection of polishes for the rest of my life, it would be the OPI Burlesque.  Enough babbling! Here are the photos.

Bring on the Bling

Extra-va-vaganza!

As you can see they are both essentially the same polish, Extra-va-vaganza has an orange base and Bring on the Bling has a yellow gold base. They are basically just different color versions of OPI Mad as a Hatter. The yellow/gold base of Bring on the Bling shows off the mutli color glitter better but they both are the same. I've seen people say that some of the colors in this collection aren't as rainbowy as Mad as a Hatter, but that is patently untrue. All the Burlesque glitters (except for Sparkle-icious) have a color and sliver "base" (main glitter color) then there is a mix of yellow, green, blue, pink, and orange glitter. Depending on the base color of the polish, different colors in the mix seem to pop, hence why overall Extra-va-vaganza comes off more orange, silver and green blue.  Anyway that was more than enough of an analysis, (can you tell I come from a family of engineers?) time for some not so great nail shots. The weather has been dreadfully dreary lately and when it was sunny I was unable to get good shots with my normal camera, so we will have to do with phone photos.

Yes I am holding a produce bag at the grocery store..the lighting was very complementary to the polish :-)

I'm wearing each polish at two coats with a layer of  Gelous and a layer of top coat. Super sparkly and pretty, very difficult to capture though. My camera both regular and phone camera had trouble focusing on the smallish glitter. But honestly they are the best sized glitters, fine without being too fine, and not too chunky that they snag on stuff. I have all the Burlesque glitters and I love them all. If you get a chance to buy one go for it, I'm sure you won't regret it. I'm not too sure how easy the Burlesque ones are to find. I know a couple of stores around me had a couple of them floating around until at least Fall 2012. Four years later is a long time in nail polish years but I've seen unexpected things pop up in some of the local grocery and pharmacy chains.

Hope you had a lovely Halloween!
